FEMA Offers Rebuilding Advice at Area Home Improvement Store

Residents seeking to repair or rebuild damaged property can get advice from a Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) mitigation specialist Tuesday through Sunday, 10:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., through Sunday, June 15, at Home Depot, 5309 N. Davis Highway.

Advice and guidance on the National Flood Insurance Program, advisory base flood elevation maps, flood insurance rate maps and repair and rebuilding will be available to all, not just to individuals who are registered with FEMA.

Advice also will be given on:

  • Elevating electrical services and appliances
  • Installing sewer back-flow valves
  • Replacing drywall and insulation
  • Channeling water away from foundations
  • Permitting process required by local authorities
