Governor Scott Visits Escambia County EOC

Published Jun 2, 2014

Governor Rick Scott joined state and local officials today to mark the beginning of the 2014 Atlantic hurricane season at the Escambia County Emergency Operation Center (EOC). The season, which extends from June 1, through November 30, represents the period when hurricanes are most likely to form in the Atlantic Ocean.

During Governor Scott’s visit at the Escambia County EOC, he reinforced the need to promote hurricane preparedness and encouraged all Florida residents to take advantage of the hurricane supply sales tax-free holiday between Saturday, May 31, and Thursday, June 8. A full list of qualifying hurricane preparedness items can be found on FloridaDisaster.org.

Escambia County Emergency Management officials support Governor Scott’s efforts by asking residents to stay prepared by knowing their local evacuation routes, evacuation zones and having a plan in place. Tips on hurricane preparedness and more can be found on BeReadyEscambia.com.
