Escambia County Road Improvements Underway

The Escambia County Public Works Department is working to repair County roadways and various infrastructures that suffered damage from the recent flooding event. Initially there were 740 notations of damaged roads, shoulders, ponds, bridges and other County thoroughfare. Since the flooding event, 315 have been repaired or have been assigned to a contractor or an engineering consultant.

Temporary repairs have been completed to Chemstrand Road and Olive Road east of Johnson Avenue.

The following is a list of the major roads being repaired and its status:

  • Dog Track Road – Temporary repair is slated for completion today, Friday, May 16, and the road will then open to traffic
  • Olive Road and Johnson Avenue – Temporary repair work to begin week of Monday, May 19
  • Blue Springs Road – Temporary repair is underway and is expected to be complete by Friday, May 23. Permanent repair is under design and will improvements will begin soon after the temporary repair project is complete
