Living in the Coastal Zone - A program discussing changes to the National Flood Insurance Program

Published Apr 21, 2014

Escambia and Santa Rosa County UF IFAS Extension will host a workshop targeted to home and property owners about changes to the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP). The NFIP is especially important to Florida as the state has 40 percent of the NFIP's policies. Recent legislation in 2012 and 2014 have made significant changes to the way flood insurance will be handled in coastal and inland flood zones, raising concerns of significant rate increases.

Workshop Schedule:

  • Wednesday, April 23, from 10 to 11:30 a.m., Escambia County Central Office Complex, 3363 West Park Place, Pensacola
  • Wednesday, April 23, from 6 to 7:30 p.m., Navarre Visitor Information Center, 8543 Navarre Parkway, Navarre

Thomas Ruppert, an attorney and Coastal Planning Specialist with Florida Sea Grant, will discuss the latest impacts of changes to this program.

The workshops are free and open to the public. For more information on this workshop please contact Carrie Stevenson, Escambia County Extension at (850) 475-5230 or [email protected]
