The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) has awarded a $1.6 million contract to Panhandle Grading & Paving, Inc. to make improvements to a section of State Road (S.R.) 291 (Davis Highway) in Escambia County.
Improvements under this contract consists of resurfacing Davis Highway from north of University Parkway to U.S. 90. Additionally, crews will perform sidewalk and Americans with Disabilities Act ramp improvements, minor drainage upgrades, signalization and guardrail improvements and place new signs and pavement markings within the project limits. Preliminary construction activities are scheduled to begin during the week of January 29, 2014.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Planned improvements requiring lane restrictions will take place at night between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. There will be no lane closures allowed during daytime peak traffic hours. Access to homes and businesses will be maintained at all times. You can expect:
- Intermittent and alternating nighttime lane closures
- Construction of temporary pavement
- Temporary ramp lane restrictions
