Prescribed Fire and Ecosystem Management of Jones Swamp

The Escambia County Natural Resources Conservation Division staff are preparing for a prescribed burn in the Jones Swamp Wetland Preserve that will begin today, Monday, December 16, through Friday, January 31.

The area for the proposed burn is approximately 30 acres and is located south of Highway 98, west of Fairfield Drive, north of Gulf Beach Highway and east of Blue Angel Parkway. The burn will be conducted by a professional prescribed burn contractor with certification from the Florida Forest Service and oversight provided by staff from the Natural Resources Conservation Division.
