The RESTORE Advisory Committee Announces 2014 Meeting Schedule

Published Nov 26, 2013

The Resources, Ecosystems Sustainability, Tourist Opportunities and Revived Economies (RESTORE) of the Gulf Coast States Act, passed in 2012, was the federal action which provided for the allocation and use of funds gained through civil penalties arising out of the Deepwater Horizon blowout and subsequent oil spill.

On October 18, 2012, the Escambia Board of County Commissioners adopted a resolution to establish a RESTORE Advisory Committee, whose purpose is to develop a plan, solicit public input and set goals for Escambia County’s use of any funds received from the RESTORE Act.

The nine member Committee is tasked with reviewing projects and submitting recommendations to the Escambia Board of County Commissioners for consideration. Two members are unrestricted, at-large positions and one position represents the City of Pensacola. The remaining six members represent:

  • The financial industry
  • The business community
  • Transportation
  • Government
  • Local environmental advocacy organizations
  • Citizens-at large

All RESTORE Advisory Committee meetings are broadcast live on ECTV, channel 98 for Bright House, Cox Cable and Mediacom (Pensacola Beach) subscribers and channel 99 for AT&T U-verse subscribers.  Meetings may also be viewed online at MyEscambia.com/ECTV
