Woodham Middle School will be hold a BEST Robotics Family Night on Thursday, October 24, from 4:45 to 5:45 p.m. in the courtyard in front of Woodham’s gymnasium. This event is sponsored by Woodham’s Robotics Club and 4H Tech Wizards.
Woodham would like to encourage all fifth graders along with their families and community members to attend this event, wear pink to support Breast Cancer Awareness Week and attend Woodham’s “Pink Out” basketball game versus Bailey Middle School. The basketball game will begin at 6:00 p.m. in the gym, immediately following Robotics Family Night.
The Robotics Club will have a display to showcase their work on the remote controlled robot that will be entered in the BEST Robotics Competition at the University of West Florida on November 2, 2013. The 4H Tech Wizards will demonstrate their Hover Craft, a four bladed helicopter that is 2 feet by 2 feet, which they will fly and control with an iPad. There will also be hands-on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) activities in which students can participate. The Robotics Club is also taking donations at the event to help Ensley Elementary School’s Pennies for Pets Drive.
The Woodham Middle School’s Robotics Team is an award winning team that has participated in the Emerald Coast’s BEST Robotics Competition for the past four years and has advanced to the regional competition in Auburn, Alabama, all four years. Last year the team won second place overall in the BEST Robotics Competition at U.W.F.
