"Discover Earth Through the Eyes of a Newborn" at the West Florida Public Library

Published Sep 4, 2013

As part of the Discover Earth: A Century of Change traveling exhibit, the West Florida Public Library presents “Discover Earth Through the Eyes of a Newborn” with host Laura Jensen on Thursday, September 12, 6 to 7 p.m. at the Main Library.

A clinical nursing manager, Jensen will discuss how the senses develop before and after birth, how babies sense the world around them and will allow the audience to experience the world from the perspective of a newborn.  An encore presentation will taken place Tuesday, September 24, 6 to 7 p.m. at the Southeast Branch. Each presentation is free of charge.

On display at the Main Library until September 27, Discover Earth: A Century of Change focuses on local earth science topics such as weather, water cycle, and ecosystem changes as well as a global view of our changing planet. Discover Earth allows library patrons to understand how Earth’s global environment changes and is affected by the local environment of all exhibition host communities.

The traveling exhibit, which is visiting ten libraries throughout the U.S., is part of the STAR Library Education Network led by the National Center for Interactive Learning at the Space Science Institute. Exhibit partners include the American Library Association, the Lunar and Planetary Institute and the National Girls Collaborative Project. Discover Earth is supported through a grant from the National Science Foundation.
