Jeff Garmon of National Weather Service Mobile office will provide “An Introduction to Weather Forecasting” at the Century Branch Library on Thursday, August 29, from 3 to 4p.m., followed by a repeat presentation at the Main Library that evening from 6 to 7 p.m.
This free program offered by the West Florida Public Library is part of the Discover Earth: A Century of Change traveling exhibition, which is on display at the Main Library through September 27. The exhibition focuses on local earth science topics such as weather, water cycle and ecosystem changes, as well as a global view of our changing planet. Discover Earth allows library patrons to understand how Earth’s global environment changes and is affected by the local environment of all exhibition host communities.
The traveling exhibit, which is visiting ten libraries throughout the U.S., is part of the STAR Library Education Network led by the National Center for Interactive Learning at the Space Science Institute. Exhibit partners include the American Library Association, the Lunar and Planetary Institute and the National Girls Collaborative Project. Discover Earth is supported through a grant from the National Science Foundation.
