Fort Pickens Closed for Flooding on the Road

Due to the anticipated combination of high surf and rain, Gulf Islands National Seashore will close Fort Pickens Area to all public use effective today at 4:30 p.m. Campers will be evacuated by 7 p.m. 

Naval Live Oaks and Fort Barrancas visitor centers will be open this weekend, August 16 to 18, so visitors may enjoy alternate sites while Fort Pickens is closed.
