County actively utilizes Twitter, YouTube and welcomes Instagram
More than 3,000 followers have signed up to receive Escambia County news updates via Twitter, triple the amount since July 2012. Followers of Escambia County Twitter feeds receive valuable information, such as current County news, events, program information, emergency alerts and severe weather updates.
In addition to @MyEscambia, where interested followers can receive general news and information, the County has built an active following on other Twitter accounts, including @MyPensacolaBch and @MyPerdidoKey, which promotes items specific to each area; @BeReadyEscambia where users can access emergency information and safety tips; and @MyEscambiaPets, which often includes photos of pets available for adoption at the Escambia County Animal Shelter as well as pet-specific tips and fundraising opportunities.
Additionally, each district commissioner has their own Twitter accounts pertaining to district-specific information and can be followed at the below Twitter handles:

- @MyDistrict2 – Commissioner Gene Valentino, District 2
- @MyDistrict3 – Commissioner Lumon May, District 3

The latest addition to social media in Escambia County is Instagram. Like Twitter, Instagram is a mobile application that is used by more than 130 million people worldwide as a popular photo sharing platform where the County will post some of the many appealing scenes our area has to offer under the username MyEscambia. Using the hashtag (#) #Escambia, users are welcome to tag their posts to showcase Escambia County from their point of view.
