UPDATE: Giese Lane Fire & Jones Swamp Fires

Published May 28, 2013

Escambia County Fire Rescue says the brush fires that have consumed more than a hundred acres of southwest Escambia County over this holiday weekend are fully contained and under control as of 10:30 Tuesday morning.

Crews from the Florida Forestry Service are improving the fire breaks around nearby neighborhoods and expect to complete that work by early Tuesday afternoon.

All roads near the fire zone (including Blue Angel Parkway) are open. Drivers are asked to please use caution, as the fire sites will likely produce small amounts of smoke in the coming days.
