Gulf Islands National Seashore to Temporarily Close Fort Pickens Fishing Pier

The fishing pier at Fort Pickens in the Gulf Islands National Seashore will be closed from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 15, 2013 for routine maintenance, as well as for the inventory and monitoring of natural resources.  During this time, National Park Service divers will be evaluating fisheries, removing invasive species, trash, debris, and fishing line from the pier structure.  This closure extends 25 yards in any direction from the pier, including the water. For more information on this or other programs, contact the Naval Live Oaks Visitor Center at (850) 934-2600 or visit our website at www.nps.gov/guis.
