Published Mar 1, 2013

Approximately 150 people attended the grand opening of the Molino Community Complex, 6450 Highway 95-A North, on Wednesday, October 17. This historical renovation project included the conversion of the old Molino School into a 15,600 square foot library, community center and museum, as well as a new 7,000 square foot facility constructed for the Tax Collector and Property Appraiser. This facility will also house a polling station for early voting and elections.

Molino's first brick school was built in 1914 withthree classrooms, 40 student desks, and 12 square feet of blackboards. In 1939, a new school building was constructed. Several buildings and additions were added over the years as student population grew. Molino School closed at the end of the 2003 school year and students moved into the new Molino Park Elementary School, on Highway 97, in August 2003.
