On December 1, 2012, Escambia County Fire-Rescue and the City of Pensacola Fire Department kicked off the “Keep the Wreath Green” holiday fire safety campaign. Five-foot wreaths lit with green lights were on display at 27 locations throughout the county. During the month-long event, six green bulbs in each County wreath and one green bulb in each City wreath were replaced with red ones, representing residential fires that occurred over the holiday season. This was slight increase from the 2011 fire safety campaign. In 2011, the County had four house fires and the City had one house fire.
City of Pensacola Fire Marshal David Allen states, “I would like to thank the citizens for making fire safety a priority. If we continue to work together, we can eliminate both the personal and property loss due to fire. For more information on fire safety and teaching aids you can access our website at PensacolaFire.com.”
Escambia County Fire Rescue and the City of Pensacola Fire Department encourage everyone to continue following the fire safety tips and have a safe and happy 2013.
