Expedition Florida 500 Project

Published Dec 30, 2012

Justin Riney, founder and CEO of Mother Ocean, will be launching his yearlong Expedition Florida 500 project at Big Lagoon State Park on Tuesday, January 1, 2013 at 9 a.m.

You are invited to participate or send your best wishes to Mr. Riney and his group as they embark on the Expedition Florida 500 project, a celebration of the 500th anniversary of Ponce de Leon settlement of Florida in 1513. This project is “a modern-day exploration of Florida’s coastline, waterways, and aquatic ecosystem as seen through the eyes of the waterman.” It allows participants to combine “the best of exploration, adventure, stewardship, science, and sport into a package that will include the full gamut of the waterman’s lifestyle.”
