Escambia County Employees Named to Leadership Positions with State Organizations

Two Escambia County employees have been named to leadership positions within statewide organizations in their professional field.

Keith Wilkins, Director, Community & Environment Department, was named as the Secretary-Treasurer of the Florida Local Environmental Resources Agencies (FLERA). FLERA was formed in the late 1960s as a voluntary association of local environmental programs to share information about mutual resource concerns and solutions. Today, FLERA is a diverse organization of state, county and municipal agencies and consulting firms. Their members provide a wide variety of environmental protection and land management services. The mission of FLERA is to enhance communication, education and advocacy for Florida local environmental protection efforts.

Bob Betts, Manager, Mosquito Control Division, Community & Environment Department, was named President of the Florida Mosquito Control Association (FMCA). The FMCA is a non-profit association consisting of members from various fields including, but not limited to:

  • Mosquito Control
  • Medicine
  • Public Health
  • Military
  • Entomology
  • Engineering

The Florida Mosquito Control Association's (FMCA) primary mission is to promote effective and environmentally sound control of disease-transmitting and pestiferous mosquitoes and other arthropods of public health importance, develop and enhance public interest, awareness and support for the control of mosquitoes and provide for the scientific advancement of members through our meetings, training and education.
