Commission Passes 4 Cent Local Option Fuel Tax to Support Mass Transit

At a Special Meeting on November 19, the Escambia County Board of County Commissioners approved an ordinance establishing a four cent  local option fuel tax on motor fuel to create a dedicated funding source for public transportation and mass transit services. An amendment to the motion passing the ordinance specified that $1.15 million in property tax relief be included as part of the County's Fiscal Year 2013/2014 budget.
