Public Meeting on Two Proposed Natural Resource Damage Assessment (NRDA) Projects

Published Nov 19, 2012

The public is encouraged to attend a meeting on November 13 at the Escambia County Central Office Complex, 3363 West Park Place, Room 104; an open house will begin at 6:00 p.m. CST with the public meeting and comment period from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.  The Phase II Draft Environmental Restoration Plan and Environmental Review (DERP/ER) will be presented at the meeting.

The proposed plan includes the second set of projects to receive funding from the $1 billion BP committed to Early Restoration on April 20, 2011.  The DERP/ER addresses coastal conservation by proposing to restore bird and sea turtle nesting habitat which were damaged as a result of response efforts following the Deepwater Horizon oil spill. The meeting is hosted by the NRDA Deepwater Horizon Trustees.

Visit www.gulfspillrestoration.noaa.gov to view the DERP/ER, access public meeting information, to view additional details of the proposed early restoration projects, and ways to submit public comment. Public comment will be accepted until December 10, 2012.   More information on the Natural Resource Damage Assessment process and projects being submitted can be found at: http://www.dep.state.fl.us/deepwaterhorizon
