Escambia County Extension, the University of Florida-Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (UF-IFAS) will be hosting a Green Industries Best Management Practices (GI-BMP) Workshop on Friday, November 2, at the Escambia County Extension Office, 3740 Stefani Road. This course is designed for lawn care and landscape maintenance professionals and teaches environmentally safe landscaping practices that help conserve and protect Florida's ground and surface waters.
Florida Statute 482.1562 states that all commercial fertilizer applicators must have a license from the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS) by January 1, 2014. To get this license, each Green Industry worker must be trained in the GI-BMP and receive a certificate of completion from UF/IFAS and FDEP. During this course participants will receive training in all major aspects of the GI-BMP manual, a copy of the manual, a certificate of completion (mailed 3-4 weeks after training) and up to 4 CEU’s for pesticide license holders. The course and exam will be held from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The cost is $30, which includes lunch and snacks.
