The Florida Department of Transportation will hold two community workshops concerning U.S. Highway 98 and West Cervantes Street. The first workshop will be held Tuesday, July 16 from 5:30 - 7 p.m. at Brownsville Community Center, 3200 W. De Soto St. The second workshop is scheduled for Tuesday, August 13, from 2 - 4 p.m. at the Fricker Community Center, 900 N. F St.
Proposed improvements include reducing the size of traffic lanes, adding crosswalks and pedestrian-controlled signals, and constructing a center median with a low barrier. Improvements may include the addition of new signals and upgrades to existing signals, as well as supplementary lighting at existing intersections and crosswalks. Construction is estimated at $7.5 million with work anticipated to begin fall 2020.
Maps, drawings, and other information will be on display. There will be no formal presentation; however, FDOT representatives will be available to discuss planned improvements, answer questions, and receive comments. Additional project information is available at www.nwflroads.com.
