UF/IFAS Extension will kick off a two-week walking challenge on Earth Day, Friday, April 26 at the Escambia County 4-H Center located at 3730 Stefani Road in Cantonment.
The Scenic Spring Walking Challenge will encourage county residents to make regular walking a consistent part of their daily lives. Participants can sign up for the challenge by visiting this link and will self-report their steps each Friday through an emailed survey. Prizes include trees and running gear, and will be awarded for the most steps taken for adults 18 and older and 60 and older, with both male and female categories.
The challenge will also encourage participants to utilize Extension’s three-quarter mile partially shaded walking track.
For more information on the walking challenge, please contact Carrie Stevenson at [email protected] or Libbie Johnson at [email protected] or call 475-5230, ext. 119. For more information on Escambia County Extension Services, visit their website or find them on Facebook.
