Escambia County Fire Rescue's Hazardous Materials Team and Fire Prevention Unit, in partnership with the West Florida Local Emergency Planning Committee, will be conducting a Hazardous Materials Team equipment display and safety discussion Monday, Aug. 14 from 3-5 p.m. This free event is open to the public and will take place at ECFR Station 16, located at 20 N. Navy Blvd.
The event will highlight Hazardous Materials Week Aug. 14-19, which was declared by the West Florida Local Emergency Planning Committee for its seven-county area from Escambia County to Bay County. Equipment used by specially-trained firefighters who respond to hazardous materials calls throughout Escambia County will be displayed at the event. Hazardous materials calls are not limited to large companies who use materials in their manufacturing process. These calls are also made to homes that store household chemicals that catch fire, become mixed or cause an explosion.
