Dan Burden is America’s premier walking advocate, and he’s visiting Pensacola to lead a walk of downtown Pensacola to see firsthand what works and what doesn’t for creating a more walkable city.

About Dan Burden

Dan is the Director of Inspiration and Innovation at Blue Zones. In May 2014, the White House recognized Burden as one of the top ten Champions of Change in Transportation, also named by TIME magazine as “one of the six most important civic innovators in the world.” Dan has relentless energy and has personally helped 3500 communities throughout the world make their means of transportation healthier, more active and affordable. Many of Dan’s street designs and town centers are now celebrated in numerous publications and books and, of course, every day by the millions of feet utilizing his designs.

Dan’s visit to Pensacola is part of a regional effort on Connecting Nature and Commerce: Developing Regional Trail Opportunities. A group of engaged local partners will convene an action planning workshop on September 27-28.

Sponsored in part by UF/IFAS Extension.
