The Programs Division manages waste diversion programs for Escambia County. The Palafox Transfer Station provides commercial haulers a place to drop off waste collected from the surrounding area. The waste is consolidated into larger vehicles and hauled to Perdido Landfill, which reduces large vehicle traffic and preserves Escambia County roadways.
This division provides for disposal of end-of-life electronics, white goods, household hazardous waste and waste tires, as well as clean concrete and asphalt.
Regional Roundup
As part of its community outreach, the Programs Division sponsors Regional Roundups. These events are located in a variety of county locations. Escambia County residents may dispose of electronics, household chemicals, paint and up to four tires free of charge.

Reblended Paint Program
Programs Division also sponsors a paint re-blending program. Latex paint is screened twice, re-blended and put into new five-gallon buckets. Beginning Thursday, May 2, Waste Services will offer free re-blended paint on the first and third Thursday of each month at the Perdido Landfill.
Paint is available from 8 a.m. to noon, or until the paint is
gone, on a first come, first served basis. The paint is free in exchange for a
clean, new five-gallon bucket and lid. Each vehicle is limited to a maximum of
two buckets of paint. Customers must drive through the scale house prior to
entering the landfill.
Available colors may be creamy white, blue, green or other colors. Call 937-2160 for additional information, including color availability.
