Pensacola Beach Lifeguards Announce New Starting Hourly Pay

Published Jun 22, 2022
Pensacola Beach Public Safety is excited to announce a new starting hourly rate of $18.33 for certified seasonal lifeguards.

"This is a beautiful place to work, and the lifeguards do a tremendous job," said Pensacola Beach Water Safety Chief Dave Greenwood. "I am extremely happy with the lifeguards' pay increase. It rewards their dedication in creating a positive and memorable experience for our beach patrons."

Pensacola Beach has experienced a record amount of traffic this year with the Bob Sikes Toll Plaza recording 23,543 vehicles on June 4 and 23,523 vehicles on June 18. The rise in traffic pushes the need for more qualified lifeguards to patrol the eight-mile landscape of Pensacola Beach.

“The Pensacola Beach Lifeguards are an incredibly valuable resource to our beaches," said Escambia County District 4 Commissioner Robert Bender. "Pensacola Beach is seeing record-tourism this summer, and our lifeguards have done a wonderful job to ensure the safety of our residents and visitors. This pay raise allows us to be competitive and provide an opportunity to attract more qualified lifeguards to Pensacola Beach so we can continue to provide a quality service to all of our beach patrons.”
