The Information Technology Department provides an efficient, reliable, and secure computing environment through integrated business systems, wired and wireless local and wide area networks, managed servers and storage systems and personal computer systems.

The IT department is organized into three divisions.

Administrative/Applications

The Administrative/Applications division is responsible for strategic planning, assisting other departments with leveraging technology to meet business needs, application implementation & support for all business systems, application and website development, budgeting, financial oversight, and invoice processing.

Service Delivery

The Service Delivery division is responsible for providing knowledgeable technical support to over 1,700 employees and their laptops, desktop computers, tablets, cell phones, and peripherals. This team responds to thousands of incidents and requests for assistance each year via phone, email, web, and walk-ins. They are also responsible for ensuring all devices on our network are patched according to industry standards and are setup with the Escambia County IT Standard deployment methods.

Infrastructure Division

The Infrastructure division has three teams: Server, Network, and Security.

The Server Team is responsible for all server and storage systems, backup and recovery, and overseeing the county's two data centers including power and environmental systems. They manage approximately 156 servers with 170 terabytes of data.

The Network Team supports all the data and voice communication systems used by the county. This includes all routers, switches, secure wireless networks, internet access, virtual private network, and core network services such as name resolution and network address management. They are responsible for Internet services which include maintaining multiple firewalls, traffic management and load balancing systems. This department also supports a robust CISCO call manager with approximately 2,000 VOIP phones located across the county.

The Security Team is responsible for ensuring the county’s network and devices are Cyber Secure. They do so by understanding vulnerabilities exist in people, process & technology which they defend by implementing a layered defense strategy.
