Civitan Park Closing May 1 for Improvements

Civitan Park, located at 404 S. 2nd Street, will close beginning Monday, May 1 for the construction of a new walking track and sidewalk enhancements. Construction is expected to take approximately 90 days, weather permitting, and will be completed by the Escambia County Parks and Recreation Department.

The approximately $75,000 project is funded by Local Option Sales Tax III, and includes a quarter-mile asphalt walking track along with enhancements to the park's sidewalk connectivity and aesthetics.

The new walking track will add to Civitan Park's existing amenities, which include a new pavilion installed in 2016, a playground, a dock with a gazebo on Bayou Davenport and a canoe/kayak launch.
