REMINDER: Arbor Day Events Planned for Jan. 20-21

Several local agencies have joined forces to produce tree giveaway events in observance of Florida's Arbor Day - Friday, Jan. 20. Escambia County, the Florida Forest Service, the city of Pensacola, Santa Rosa County and UF/IFAS Extension will hold events Friday, Jan. 20 and Saturday, Jan. 21.

The city of Pensacola will host a tree planting, proclamation and tree giveaway from 10 a.m. to noon Friday, Jan. 20 at Camelot Park, located at 7705 Gallahad Road. For more information about the event, contact parks superintendent Bill Kimball at 850-436-5673 or bkimball@cityofpensacola.com.

Escambia County will hold its tree giveaway and public planting from noon to 3 p.m. Friday, Jan. 20 at Regency Park, located at 8245 Fathom Road. Support for the event will be provided by the USDA Forest Service, Florida Forest Service, Escambia County UF/IFAS Extension, Master Gardener Association and Keep Pensacola Beautiful. UF/IFAS Extension and Florida Forest Service will host a tree giveaway, public art show and mail art contest awards from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Jan. 21 at Davisville Community Center, located at 10200 Highway 97, Davisville. Support for the event will be provided by Resource Management Services. Santa Rosa County will also host an event Saturday, Jan. 21 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Milton Garden Club, located at 5256 Alabama St. Support for the event will be provided by the Florida Forest Service, Milton Garden Club, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, Santa Rosa County UF/IFAS Extension, Master Gardener Association, Santa Rosa Green Up Nursery and Keep Santa Rosa Beautiful. The event will include displays, planting demonstrations and a seedling giveaway.
