Utility assistance for renters who need assistance with overdue utility bills can apply for emergency utility assistance through the Escambia County Emergency Rental Assistance Program, effective Nov. 28, 2023. Funds are limited.

The national COVID-19 pandemic has significantly impacted the way we live and do business in Escambia County, and as a result, many families who lease their homes are having a hard time paying utilities. The Escambia County Board of County Commissioners is pleased to provide emergency utility assistance to eligible residents. Assistance will be provided to income eligible residents and families who:

Emergency utility assistance may be provided to eligible low-income Escambia County residents and families who:

  • Have been financially impacted by COVID-19;
  • Have total household income at or below 80% Area Median Income;
  • Are at risk of experiencing homelessness or housing instability; and
  • Have not received any other utility assistance for the requested months
Applications are available Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. (closed holidays and weekends) at Ensley Community Center at 8390 Palafox St. in Ensley.
