Escambia County Fire Rescue proudly operates as a combination fire service, utilizing the talents and diversities of volunteer and career firefighting personnel. Volunteer firefighters operate out of 11 districts, while career firefighters operate out of 16 districts throughout Escambia County.

Fifteen of the career companies are staffed 24 hours a day. One career company operates Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m., with volunteer companies providing firefighting and other emergency services the rest of the time.

Escambia County Fire Rescue also provides hazardous materials response, special operations and ALS non-transport services.

ISO Rating

Current ISO rating 4/4X Received in March 2019

This rating applies to the unincorporated areas of Escambia County. It does not pertain to the City of Pensacola or military bases located in Escambia County.

What determines the rating for my property?

  • Properties within 5 miles of an Escambia County fire station and within 1,000 feet of a fire hydrant will have insurance premiums based on a classification of a 4 ISO rating.
  • Properties within 5 miles of an Escambia County fire station that are beyond the 1,000-foot limit from a fire hydrant will have a 4X ISO rating.
  • Properties farther than 5 miles from an Escambia County fire station will have a 10 classification. Based on geographic location, some properties in the county may fall under this designation.

What is ISO?

ISO is a for-profit organization that assesses municipal fire suppression systems and provides insurance companies statistical information about the level of risk in a community. ISO ratings range from 1-10, with 1 being the best. In 2019, Escambia County’s ISO rating improved from a 5 to a 4.

Fire Hydrant Locator

Use the Emerald Coast Utilities Authority map to locate the fire hydrant nearest to an address.

  1. Select the Quick Search button represented by binoculars in the upper-left corner of the map.
  2. Change the Search By option to Address.
  3. Begin entering the address. The system will automatically populate the correct address format.
