Escambia County has more than 50 miles of coastal land, both urban and rural areas and a major east west Interstate transverses the County. Our fleet of 26 International and six advanced life support quick response vehicles are staffed by a Paramedic and EMT. Our ambulances are equipped with the mobile data terminals allowing access to dispatch information and GPS routing to and from calls. In order to better coordinate and enhance patient care we utilize a multi-tiered response with our local fire departments. In the rural areas, the volunteer fire departments are trained to the First Responder level providing BLS with AED patient care and in the urban and beaches, our fire departments provide ALS patient care with EMS providing transport to local hospitals. Escambia County has three major hospitals with two being level II trauma centers and one a pediatric trauma center.
