CURRENT CIP PROJECTS

A CIP (Capital Improvement Plan) is a short-range plan, usually four to six years, which identifies capital projects and equipment purchases, provides a planning schedule and identifies options for financing the plan.

Engineering's CIP Projects are typically funded through the Local Option Sales Tax (L.O.S.T.), and construct, improve, and/or rehabilitate the infrastructure (roadways and drainage) in Escambia County. These projects can include dirt road paving, roadway resurfacing, bridge construction, drainage complaints, new roadway construction, etc.

Escambia County Engineering Division is re-shaping and permanently closing the existing Saufley Landfill and constructing an oversized retention system for future connections for stormwater improvements to the surrounding area.

The project kicked off in February 2012 and is scheduled to be complete by March 2013. Panhandle Grading & Paving is the contractor.

On April 10, 2012, Commissioner Robertson held a Town Hall Meeting at Bellview Baptist Church to discuss the Saufley Landfill Closure and Stormwater Improvement Project, including the timeline for the project, and to answer questions.
